Six characters, 669 pieces

Original digital art built around six action figures from 1994, taking on 2026 with absolute confidence and no idea what any of it is.

What this is

Stiff Competition is six characters and their stories: Major Wood, The Rear Admiral, Hammerin' Hanky, The Grip, Slick Willy and The Velvet Python. 669 original pieces, and the characters come first — everything else exists to serve them.

Three used action figures started it. No packaging, a pound for the lot, bought on a Wednesday afternoon on the way to the pub. The photos were phone snaps taken in the pub, and the figures had ended up in poses so lifelike the idea arrived fully formed. The originals were copyrighted, so six new characters were built instead. Nothing here is borrowed.

The work is organised into four series. Every piece is original digital art, registered to whoever buys it, permanently and publicly. Once a piece is gone, it's gone.

The four series

Each series puts the same six through a different set of conditions. Pieces are numbered continuously within a series.

The six

Every piece in the archive is one of these six. Shown here as they appear in the Sovereign Assets Series.

How it gets made

No team, no studio, no investors

The artwork, the shop, the blockchain side, the code — months of learning every bit of it from nothing. It is one person, working alone, and the build is documented as it goes.

Every piece is made deliberately, one at a time, then graded, numbered and registered on the blockchain. Nothing is generated on demand and nothing is randomised at the point of sale. The grade describes work already done.
